Overview

Alice has particular expertise in complex cross-border disputes in the construction, engineering and energy sectors, with experience in many jurisdictions across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East and South East Asia. She has acted in commercial and investment arbitrations under a range of governing laws and institutional rules including ICC, LCIA, ICSID and UNCITRAL, as well as adjudications and High Court proceedings (TCC and Commercial Court). Alice holds a ‘Licence’ in French Law, a Masters in International Relations and Public International Law and Higher Rights of Audience in the civil courts of England & Wales.

Alice is based in Mantle Law’s London office.

Advising a U.S. global manufacturer (as Claimant) in dispute with an African state concerning expropriation claims under a Bilateral Investment Treaty and pursuant to the ICSID Arbitration Rules. Claims were valued at US$ 250million.

Acting for a U.K. global construction specialist (as Main Contractor and Claimant/Respondent) in a series of adjudications and Part 8 TCC proceedings with a U.K. building envelope Sub-Contractor under a bespoke sub-contract and related main contract terms (JCT) concerning defects to roof installation, termination and delay claims as well as payment and pay less notice disputes. The governing law of the contract was the laws of England and Wales. Claims totalled US$ 16million.

Advising a Saudi power generation and desalinated water production company (as Operation and Maintenance contractor and Claimant) in dispute with a Saudi project company under an Operation & Maintenance agreement concerning the non-payment of invoices and termination following Force Majeure events. The governing law of the contract was the laws of England and Wales. Claims exceeded US$ 6million and the PPP project value was US$1.85 billion.

Advising a Saudi power generation and desalinated water production company (as Seller and Respondent) in dispute with a Saudi energy and water company (as Purchaser and Claimant) under a Share and Purchase Agreement concerning alleged breaches of warranties. The governing law was the laws of England and Wales. Claims were valued at US$ 36million.

Acting for a leading U.K. telecommunications company (as Employer and Respondent) in adjudication under bespoke contract terms concerning a multi-billion pound fibre broadband infrastructure project. The governing law was the laws of England and Wales. Claims totalled £1 million. The Employer obtained a favourable award and was not found liable.
